CounselIling for Ex Cult Members
by Disassociated Lady 2 ini wanted to ask those of you who were born into the jws and eventually left as an adult, whether any of you have had any counselling?
i know from experience that being programmed by a cult since birth does not give us the social skills and knowledge to function and interact with people in the outside world as we were taught to avoid it.
those of you that have had counselling, do you feel that it has helped you?

To Pale Emporer " So far i've noticed that those who still feel tied to it or guilty etc are those who still have some belief in the WT teachings."
This is not about still believing their teachings, it is more about the social skills that we were not taught and the biggest problem is JWs are taught to trust no one in the world which can be a huge problem.
When negative people out there in the big wide world discover you were raised as a JW they can also use it against you because they know you lack knowledge of the world and how communities work as we were not allowed to integrate into them.

Hello All,
I wanted to ask those of you who were born into the JWs and eventually left as an adult, whether any of you have had any counselling? I know from experience that being programmed by a cult since birth does not give us the social skills and knowledge to function and interact with people in the outside world as we were taught to avoid it.
Those of you that have had counselling, do you feel that it has helped you? Can a counsellor actually "de-program" your mind so that you can live a successful life?
I would appreciate some feedback here.

When you have been raised from birth in a cult, you are not given the right education to be able to survive in the outside world as you are kept away from it as much as possible. You are also taught not to trust which puts up a barrier that others can feel. They will then take against you because they sense you are different in some way and social interactions are difficult. I have had much hostility since I left from all kinds of people and its only now I am realizing that much of that is to do with the cult indoctrination. Sometimes this seems to confirm what the JWs teach about the world being a hostile place and there are times I am tempted to run back but then you will get abused in a different way but it is familiar.
There is little help for people who were raised within a cult and so many are trying to cope with a life outside and are having serious problems, some are even taking their own lives because they find it difficult to cope. Its terrible. :-(

Attending the 2017 Memorial
by Disassociated Lady 2 inafter contemplating whether or not to attend the memorial this year i finally went.
this time last year i had been reinstated and within weeks the elders summoned me to the kh to interrogate me about my past and place of residence.
i was angry with them and lost my temper and stood up to them.

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but you are DFD and they will often times talk with ines at the hall who are DFD during the memorial but after they will go back to shunning you.
You could be right, after all they spoke to me when my Dad was dying and at his funeral, but once that was over it was back to shunning...family included. x

Hahaha Finkelstein I did that gesture to the local hall as I drove past. I sat at the hall watching everyone and I don't feel a need to associate with them as we have nothing in common. I like the freedom of appearing at a meeting and being able to just leave without getting pounced on. After reinstatement it began to feel quite claustrophobic!! A statement one sister made who cant stand the Elders stays in my mind "Those people smell of rotten cabbage". She says it how it is and maybe some of them do. x

You Can Encourage An Inactive Christian!
by Yesu Kristo Bwana Wangu inhttps://www.jw.org/en/publications/jw-meeting-workbook/april-2017-mwb/meeting-schedule-apr10-16/encourage-inactive-christian/.
this is part of the clam meeting this week.. how contradictory is it?.
first, they instruct people to avoid inactive ones and to shun them and to treat them the same as da'd or df'd ones, .

My sister is inactive but sees my mother on a regular basis and the other JWs speak to her too. I am DF and my mother wont have anything to do with me and I am shunned. Not that I am missing out as my mother is a bitter negative elderly woman who thought she would never grow old in this system or have to live without my Dad. :-/ x
